All 3 teams finished in the top 10 (22 teams raced in Masters 1-4) We came second to Bicispoirt by 4 seconds........Stu is still loosing sleep over it!

I know there's a few of you that don't mind hitting the dirt and at least one of you that doesn't mind hitting the dirt on skinny tyres...
There are two steps for entry, first you have to enter the secondary event known as the Woodford to Glenbrook Careflight Challenge. This small event has been running for a few years and we've chosen to support (or possibly highjack) it to help build it into an even bigger event. Making it possibly the biggest half day off-road cycling & running event on that day in Australia if not the world. Entry forms are available here

Secondly you need make your self known to President (Robbie "McEwan" Parbery) of the Australian Professional Cyclo-Cross Riders Association on the day to present your bike for scrutineering.
A few Simple rules;
1. Drop bars compulsory
2. Tyres - keep 'em skinny
3. No disc brakes,
4. 'Cross-dressing will be encouraged
5. Consideration of variation to rules 1, 2 & 3 above will be considered on an individual basis on presentation of a bribe to the President and the Secretary of the APC-CRA
Of course if you're soft and want to use a mt bike you can still race, recent work on the Woodford end of the fire trail has some predicting the race record will be broken this year.

G'day
The World Masters Games in 2009 will be held in Sydney. It's the Olympics for the "old fellows" and I know that unlike in the "Sydney Road Titles" last Saturday where only ONE Manly Warringah rider (Roger) represented the Club you might all want to compete in this great event. As usual, early bird entries will save you some money. So, now is the time to do it.

Saturday Morning Training Ride

All,
We have started a regular Saturday morning training ride that is for those who are looking at clocking up some longer km's and getting in some great climbs. This is an alternative to the Coast and Toast.
The ride is leaving BA at 5:15am sharp.
Goes up Allambie Rd, out to Bobbin Head, down through Bobbin Head to Galston Gorge.
Out to Berowra Waters and cross on the ferry. Climb out of there and then back along the Pacific Hwy and through Bobbin head again.
From there we come back along Monavale Rd and then decide either through Akuna bay and back along the beaches to Manly (approx 140km arrive 10:30am) or down forestway and back top Manly (approx 105km arrive 9:30am).
Great training ride for all to enjoy.

At the state champs on the weekend I learn't three leasons about track racing. All of which I indeed failed to do.
1. Always remember that when leaving the start gate you must wait for the release.
2. Always remember that when having overtaken your pursuit oponent you must swing up the bank after you cross the line to allow your oponent to pass.
3. Always remember that when in a pursuit final against a mate, do not pass him to finish the race early. It is embarrassing for him. He will never speak to you again.
One leason learnt that I did manage to master was the ability to borrow a disc wheel when in need. You just have to have a puncture about 2 minutes before your start and know someone there that has one. Quite nerve racking but well worth the extra speed (sorry again Stu)

Back in Oct '07 Mike O'Brien posted a seemingly unbeatable Manly group Calga 25km TT record of 35.36. Mike Foster almost knocked him off top spot in Jan this year with a 35.42 only 6 seconds adrift of Mikes lofty time. Today Mike F reduced that deficit to 3 seconds - another PB. But as Mike crossed the line Danny Bailey (poolboy) was sitting on the fence hardly able to contain his confident smirk knowing he had just smashed Mike O'Brien's time and set a new group record of 35.12! This is a seriously fast time averaging over 42kmph on a dead undulating course but I have a hunch it won't last long.
